Hello!
My name is Nereida (pronounced neh-ray-duh), and I am a graduate student at UC Berkeley's MIMS program focusing on User Experience Research. I completed my BFA in Industrial Design at the Rochester Institute of Technology and worked within design for six years before transitioning into User Research, and pursuing my Master.
I grew up in Oakland, California, and spent my 6 years after graduating from RIT in New York City.
I have a deep love and passion for the arts. I can be found learning how to make something out of yarn, painting a canvas, writing a short story, or roaming around my nearest art museum.
Currently, I'm learning how to create ceramic sculptures using hand building methods!
I started rock climbing three years ago! I fell in love with it the first time I went. Within a week I had my own membership, and a week after that I had my own gear. I haven't looked back ever since.
I love hiking and being outside. I try to spend as much of my free time as possible being outside in some way shape or form. Sometimes this looks like a hike, and other times it looks like a bike ride through the city or on the bay trail.
I have a cat named Mao, Meow, or Mr. Meow. Whichever you prefer. He found me on the streets of Brooklyn one hot night in the summer of 2018 on Friday the 13th. We've been inseparable ever since.
I have an addiction to buying plants and fancy myself an amateur gardener. My most recent buys are a Polka Dot Begonia, Spanish Beard Moss, and Shiso seeds.
Thanks for taking the time to learn a little bit more about me!
